Having majored in philosophy and studied religious philosophy, I must say I find it heartening that Obama is a fan (for want of a better word) of Reinhold Niebuhr, author of the so-called Serenity Prayer, at least according to this CNN article.

Sorry but I'm going to be a Grinch again! Firstly, David Brooks is an idiot so I don't put much store in any opinions by him.
Obama is always spouting out fine sounding phrases but that's all they are, they have no connection to what he does, they are all for effect, that's why his Presidency has been a perpetual campaign.
Take this-

"I take away," Brooks quoted Obama as saying, "the compelling idea that there's serious evil in the world and hardship and pain. And we should be humble and modest in our belief that we can eliminate those things. But we shouldn't use that as an excuse for cynicism and inaction. I take away ... the sense that we have to make these efforts knowing they are hard, and not swinging from naive idealism to bitter realism."

and tell it to the Iranian protestors in the streets of Teheran trying to get rid of a maniacal and cruel set of rulers, suffering death and injury, arrest, torture and hangings, and Obama can't even stir himself to give even minimal support. It's all of a piece with his put down of ordinary Americans, 'clinging to their guns and religion', not an ounce of empathy for those outside his little circle of Marxist elitist ideologues.

There are ways of being stupid that have nothing to do with some book learning and mouthing an afinity for a famous philosophical poet.

Worst President ever.

To show that I'm not the only one thinking Obama's fine words don't match his deeds, see the latest from Rasmussen.

This past Sunday reports about the President's budget began to leak out. On Monday, the budget was officially released, and voters saw that all of the pretty fiduciary responsibility talk within the SOTU was just that, talk. With that Obama's approval numbers dived faster than a congressman rushing to spend our last dollar. Each one of his approval numbers are now worse than they were the day of the State Of the Union.

After a year of President Obama's misdirection, lies and spin, American voters may be finally waking up. Its not that his wonderful prose doesn't get him a nice bump, but voters are looking at the facts and realizing it tells a totally different story than the POTUS has laid out. The polling numbers show that the voters are not happy with the REAL story.

OTOH this is quite surprising.
Not enough to change the picture of him as a serial misleader.
[Hey, I like that, 'misleader', how apt!]
